Elizabeth H. Rich was born to the late James Henry Harrison and Sallie Coles Harrison, on July 30, 1937, in Camden, New Jersey. Through this union three children were born Elizabeth, Katherine and William. Elizabeth was educated in the Monroe Township School system in Williamstown, New Jersey. She graduated from Glassboro High School in Glassboro, NJ in 1955. Elizabeth met and married Harry D. Rich who preceded her in death; her brother William Harrison, and her grandson Brian Gause who also preceded her in death. Elizabeth continued her studies and graduated from Cumberland County College in 1971 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. Elizabeth worked at Ancora State Hospital in the Nursing Department for almost 39 years. She began her career as a Human Service Assistant and continued her education during her time there. She worked her way up and became Head Nurse, for many years. She was ultimately promoted to and retired as Assistant Director of Nurses in 1997. Elizabeth was a faithful member of Tabernacle of the Congregation Church, in Williamstown, New Jersey, founded by Apostle Marlella E. Gantt and the late Bishop Kenneth S. Gantt. which is now Acts of the Apostles Church in Philadelphia, Pa. It was there where she was saved and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost, on October 4, 1967. In November of the same year, she was baptized. Elizabeth became an Evangelist at Acts of the Apostles Church and later became a member of Miracle Deliverance Church Pastored by the late Pastor E.V. Coles. When Pastor Coles passed away, she became a member of General Assembly Church of the First Born where the late Bishop Manning Scriven, was the Pastor. Elizabeth has been a member of General Assembly Church of the First Born for over 20 years. She was ordained as the Assistant Pastor of General Assembly of the First-Born Church in October 2012, under the Pastorage of Bishop John J. Cooper. She touched so many lives by exemplifying the life of Jesus Christ. She had the gift of making everyone feel special, she never forgot anyone’s birthday with a card and or a phone call. She made everyone feel safe and loved without conditions. She had the gift of prayer, when you asked Lizzie, Mom, Mom-Mom, Aunt Lizzie, Ms. Rich, Pastor Rich, or Elizabeth to pray for you, you knew she was calling God on your behalf. She loved to cook, cakes, pies, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and the list could go on and on. She made wedding cakes and her world famous cheesecakes. Cooking was her way of showing extra love, even if you didn’t ask her she would cook you something or bring you food. She would always find out what you needed to make you feel better, which was always her goal. She was known for feeding people and volunteering her time to various food programs, missionary organizations and outreach ministries. She would always go the extra mile for anyone, and always thinking of herself last. She was a true Virtuous Woman; Proverbs 31:20 Moms favorite Scripture was Psalm 27:4 If you asked Mom what is her heart’s desire, she would say, “All I want in life is for the Lord to be pleased and to say Well Done my good and faithful servant.” II Timothy 4:7. She has fought the good fight, she has finished her course, she has kept the faith.
