Obituary of Robert D Moradfar

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Darius Moradfar, known as Bob, was born in Tehran, Iran on April 16, 1955, to Esshagh and Ann Moradfar. When he was four years old, the family moved to Queens, NY. Bob loved playing baseball and tinkering with electronics, and always repaired the family's radios and televisions. He attended Queensborough College but didn't finish his degree, preferring to earn his own money in radio repair. Eventually Bob met his forever wife Gilberte (known as JouJou) when they were next-door neighbors in an apartment building in Jamaica, Queens. Two years later, in 1981, they were blessed with their firstborn, a daughter named Roberta. They married in 1986 and the following year their second child, a son named Rex was born. He joined the communications department of the FDNY in 1993. He was a 1st responder during the 9/11 attack and later became one of the survivor victims of toxic exposure. Bob retired from the FDNY after nearly 20 years of honorable service. Bob was a committed father and spent all his time with his family when he wasn’t working. Loved by his family and friends, not least for his quirky sense of humor, he enjoyed making people laugh at his outlandish stories. He loved animals and cared for the neighborhood's stray cats. Bob was also an avid baseball card & comic book collector, enjoyed watching mafia documentaries, and had a huge collection of vinyl records that consisted of Motown, Doo Wop, Soul, and Rock 'n Roll. He loved his music so much that his records were always spinning on the stereo system which you could easily hear from outside the home. If you were lucky to see him dance - or attempt to dance - it was a sight, you could not unsee. He is survived by his beloved wife JouJou, his daughter Roberta, his son Rex, his sister Jenny, his granddaughter Raisa, and his fur babies Chubby and Baby. He was truly a one-of-a-kind and will be dearly missed.
