My beloved cousin Kirk. I am grieving the loss of someone I knew as a morally excellent human being, not a perfect man (there is no such thing), but a righteous one. I am grieving the loss of a fellow traveler on the Road Less Travelled By who was a compassionate and generous man, one who never failed to stand up for right or challenge wrong.
You have been my Brother in the ongoing struggle for equality and social justice since we were young boys in Coatesville, more than 60 years ago. I am going to miss you on the battlefield. You were the most compassionate and tenacious warrior I have ever known. As you well know, I have been in many places in my life, places with some very tough hombres - the state penitentiary, the Marine Corps – but I have never met so courageous, tenacious, and honorable a man as you, Cousin.
Now you belong to the Ages, immortalized in the memories, hearts, and minds of your generations, those of us who remember you well. I remember you well, Kirk. Rest in Paradise 'til we meet again in the beloved community, where every Soul cares for and about every other Soul. What a day of rejoicing that will be!

Our hearts are saddened in the transition of Bishop Morris Kirk Baxter.
We are praying for Mother Lilly Baxter, their daughters Tracy, Trina, Tricia, Tramaine, the grandchildren and family.
Bishop Baxter was a great friend of ours for almost 50 years. He was a true friend and “Man of God”. We will miss him.

Bishop Baxter was a member of our class of 1964, Scott Horace High School in Coatesville, Pennsylvania.
I remember him with that big smile and always with a positive attitude.
At that time he was known as Kirk or Kirky. After graduation I only saw him a few times as we all went our own way. Members of the class did stay in contact and we were saddened by the news of his passing.

I cannot think of you as dead. I am thinking of you as resting safe in the arms of our Savior. You have accomplished your mission here on earth , and have left a legacy that will help us to live on although we are so broken without you.
You were a tower of strength during difficult times and I have not thanked you enough for helping me to believe that the Holy Spirit will always intercede on my behalf. Thanks for being there for my children, especially my son who looked to you for guidance when he needed a male role model.
Take your rest Bishop, father and friend.
We will meet again one day.
Be comforted Mother Baxter, daughters and grandchildren.
