Sad, melancholy, grief stricken are not strong enough words to describe my feelings of losing my childhood best friend in the whole wide world. So much of my life includes Nish. In school, on the court, on the field, in the club, on vacation, there we were. Though I haven’t lived in Philly since high school the moment I hit town, I was headed to see Nish. She toasted us with a poem at my wedding, was god mother to my kids, dance battles John in the living room and encouraged Danielle to share her songs. Nish has been a constant in my life, my true sister. I thank Michelle and Jeff for sharing her with me and Peggy for treating me like a daughter. I truly miss my friend. We brought in 40 together in Las Vegas and I am so grateful the Lady Cougars (Carolyn, Gatha, Nish and I) celebrated our 50th together in the D.R. I am so thankful that last summer I got to tell Nish I loved her and how important our friendship is to me. I’m really going to miss my buddy.

I cannot put into words how much I love and will miss her. We were more than friends in poetry and other creative arts, more than friends, we were sisters. Such a kind and giving soul, and a light for so many people. This world is a lot less beautiful without her.
