Obituary of Anne Marie Carmichael

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7 NKJV) Anne Marie Carmichael went home to be with the Lord, after a hard-fought battle with an extended illness, on November 17, 2023; in Meadowbrook, PA. Anne was born on October 30, 1965, to Mary Cornish Carmichael and Montaire Carmichael, in Philadelphia, PA. She grew up in Port Norris, New Jersey, and attended Commercial Township and Millville Public Schools. Her outgoing spirit and vibrant personality were evident, early in life, as she was involved in many school clubs, such as: the track and field program; and she was a member of the Millville Senior High School marching band, for which she played saxophone. In 1981, Anne gave birth to her daughter, Tamara, her “Punkins”; whom she loved dearly and was her source of pride. It gave her great joy to watch her grow up; and attend all of her dance recitals, graduations, and events, over the years. After Anne graduated from Millville High, she attended Chaney University, in Pennsylvania. Always driven, in 2006, she earned her Associate’s Degree, in Human Resources Management, from the Community College of Philadelphia. Soon after, she was accepted into the Business program of Drexel University, in center city Philadelphia-where she enjoyed her studies of Business, for several years. Anne always had a strong work ethic. Human Resources was her passion, and she spent most of her career in this field. She worked as a Human Resources Manager throughout her career, for companies such as: Lankenau Medical Center, and UPS, in Philadelphia. Her expertise in employee rights and policies, was second to none. She was a knowledgeable source, for family and friends, for topics such as insurance benefits; and how to construct a dynamic resume, and cover letter. Her work ethic never wavered, even after she became ill; she continued working, from home. In her spare time, Anne Marie loved to watch her beloved Phillies and Eagles teams, play. She was an avid fan of both-and she rarely missed a game. Additionally, spending time with family and friends was most important to her. She and her daughter, who were friends, would text all throughout each day, to see how their days were going. In recent years, Anne enjoyed caring for her Dad, with Tamara; in a labor of love. Being a night-owl, she’d often send text messages or call friends and family, in the late-night hours, just to say “hello”. She always kept in touch with her family, friends, and former co-workers. She was thoughtful, especially in her communications-sending thoughtful cards and gifts to friends and family, made her happy. For fun, Anne enjoyed listening to her favorite type of music, House. You could find it playing on her car radio as she took a road trip to NYC or Maryland, in the summers-hanging with friends. Anne had a strong green thumb. To this day, she has plants that she’s cared for, for over 20 years-and has named them all. She often spent weekends repotting and pruning them, so ensure they’d grow nicely. Her big sense of humor was a main characteristic of hers. It was easy for her to move people to laughter, while telling a story-and just in general. Anne loved to cook. Her fried chicken, and fried fish, were delicious- and were frequently requested by her daughter and friends. Moreover, her loud, boisterous stories, jokes, and laughter; her big, fun, and caring spirit, will always be missed, by all that knew and loved her. Anne leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Tamara Carmichael of Hamilton, NJ. She is also survived by: one sister, Captain Amy Turner (Rick Turner, Sr.), USAF (Ret.), of Beavercreek, OH; one brother Allan Carmichael, of Philadelphia, PA; Aunts: Rose Showell, of Vineland, NJ; Trudi Cornish, of Bowie, MD; Dr. Maxine Sample, of Atlanta, GA; Renee Cornish, of Port Norris, NJ; and Florence Adams, of Washington, D.C.; uncles: Kirby Carmichael, Sr., of Richmond, VA; and George Cornish, Sr., of Vineland, NJ. Additionally, she is survived by nephews, Jeffrey Ball, Jr., of Atlanta, GA; Rick Turner, Jr., of Beavercreek, OH-and a niece, Victoria Turner, of Beavercreek, OH; and a host of aunts and uncles, cousins, extended family; and her best friend “Dee” Khatib EL, of Philadelphia, PA-as well as many dear friends. She is predeceased by her mother Mary Cornish Carmichael, and father Montaire Carmichael.
