Mrs. Lynette J. Battle (née Tucker), daughter of the late Caldwell Tucker and Evelyn Davis, was born on December 9, 1940, in Columbia, South Carolina. She came to New Jersey at an early age and was raised in Elizabeth, NJ.
Lynette was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Rev. Jeremiah Battle, Sr. on September 24, 1960. They resided in Elizabeth, NJ before moving to Browns Mills, NJ in 1975. They were blessed with four children: Jeremiah Jr., Darryl Sr., Lynda, and Jason.
A loving wife and mother, Lynette ran a home daycare and later worked at Deborah Heart & Lung Center as a housekeeper until retirement.
Lynette was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Browns Mills, NJ. She was the First Lady during the years her husband Rev. Battle pastored the church. Lynette was a prayer warrior, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir. She served as the president of the George Washington School # 1 PTA of Elizabeth, NJ, in the early 1970s.
Lynette loved reading, watching mysteries and westerns, gardening, and listening to music. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a loving woman who was quick to help others. Lynette loved the Lord. She accepted the Lord at a young age and committed her life sharing the goodness and love of God with others.
Lynette Battle went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Arista Care at Whiting. She was predeceased by her mother, father, husband, two sisters: Jackie and Maxine, and one brother: Oliver.
She is survived by: Jeremiah Jr. (Jaimye) Battle of Abington, MA, Darryl Sr. (Linda) Battle of Ewing, NJ, Lynda (Charles Jr.) Daniels of Fayetteville, NC, and Jason Battle (Kristen) of Pemberton Twp, NJ; one brother: James Davis of Columbia, SC; thirteen grandchildren: Jeremiah III (Jenneé) and Jessica Battle of Silver Springs, MD, Laquan Heading of Ewing, NJ, Darryl Battle, Jr. of Pemberton Twp, NJ, Brittany and De’Adrea Battle of West Windsor Twp, NJ, D’Andre Battle of Silver Springs, MD, Darale Battle of Raleigh, NC, Diante Battle of Ewing, NJ, and Charles III, Chelsea, Chad, and Charity Daniels of Fayetteville, NC; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
