Nina Douglas was born to the late Milo and Mary Stark. She entered this
world on March 28, 1947, and left this world on Saturday March 9th, 2024. Nina
attended Lincoln Elementary School in Harrison, NJ. She then went on to Stockton
School and then Columbia and attended East Orange High in East Orange, New
Jersey. She was a clerk at the Welfare Department and Social Services in Newark,
New Jersey. In 1965 Nina found the love of her life and married the late Mr. Claude
Douglas. Out of that union were Claude Douglas III and James Milo Douglas. She
also had a son who preceded her in death Edward Taylis Douglas.
In 1968, Nina gave herself to the Lord at Emmanuel Church of Christ in
Newark, NJ. She later joined Grace Apostolic Church of Christ in East Orange, NJ
where Bishop Ronny Amos Jr. was the acting Bishop. Nina sung in the Adult Choir,
then later in life taught Bible Study at Arista Care and at Meadowview Nursing
Home. She always took great interest in leading others to Christ and really loved
the Lord.
In her early years, Nina loved fishing, playing cards, and was known as
Queen of Spades and she also loved her cats and dogs. She took great interest in
cooking, some of her staple dishes were fried chicken, hog mogs and chitterlings,
potato salad and liver and onions. She attained these skills through watching her
mother. Oh, and let’s not forget the soaps operas she enjoyed and gathering her
grand kids to watch them with her, she was a joy to be around.
Nina leaves to mourn her children Claude Douglas III and wife Malissa
Douglas, James Douglas and Lenora Thomas, lifelong partner. Nina has nine
grandchildren, Mary Tate, Lamar Thomas, David Douglas, Daniel Douglas and Wife
Stephanie, and Demetrious Douglas, Mya Atwell and Jay Atwell, Mathew Walker,
