Obituary of Ruth Teretha Cox

Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth Teretha Cox, affectionally known to many as sister, Ruthie, Terry, and one niece "Only" (Dorthy Loveland Boggs- Deceased) Called her "Foofie". Ruth born of the union Elder Elijah Cox Sr. (Deceased) and Missionary Evangelist Mary Anna Cox (Deceased). Ruth's life started June 3, 1937. She was the youngest amongst three siblings Elijah (Snookie) Cox (Deceased) and Mary E. Comegys (Dolly), Ruth was spoiled!      Ruth was educated in Camden public schools. Ruth was employed at Haddon Binary. Because of her love for babies and children, Ruth was later employed at BroadwayFamily Daycare Center. This was her huge love. At an early age Ruth became active in the family church. At that time, it was known as the Camden Church of Christ Disciples, then later Bright Memorial Disciples of Christ Holy Church, under the pastorate of the late Bishop William H. Bright. Currently Pastor Warren Beckett oversee and lead the flock. For many years Ruth was a musician for the Disciplets. Ruth was active in YPWW- Young People Wiling Workers. When her father, Elder Elijah Cox Sr. would have speaking engagements Ruth would sing many times before he preached.  Years later Ruth became a long-standing member of Revival Church of Love and Deliverance where Apostle Jeanette Gilbert is the shepherd. Ruth was a faithful musician. Years later Ruth joined her daughter and grandchildren at Voice of Hope Deliverance Church, Inc. where Apostle Bruce C. Lester is the pastor. Ruth remained not just a member but a mother of this ministry until GOD called her home. She loved the children in Voice of Hope. Dakota made it known that Ruth was present. The Voice of Hope church family gave consistent love all the way to her departure. Thank you! Amongst the Bishops, Pastors, Prophets, Deacons, Evangelists, and Missionaries, singing stands very tall in Ruth’s family. Any time Ruth got together with any family member a song would rise. But Ruth also would pray or read a scripture to make sure you knew about God.   While reading scriptures she’d always have gospel music playing. Ruth’s lively hood and passion was playing for churches, choirs, weddings, and funerals, throughout the tristate area. Just to name a few: Sanctuary Church of The Abiding Presence, Gist Liberty FBH Church, Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church, and so many more that time won’t allow. For a season Ruth traveled to Delaware with Pastor Micheal Jones for the weekly broadcast. Years later Ruth was honored to sing at Pearl Bailey’s home going. Ruth sang with Kitty Parham and Co., Edwin Newberry and the City-Wide Revival Choir, and Old Fashion Gospel Choir.  Ruth is survived by two children, Danny Clay Cox and Cherie La’Rone Cox Swain, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a precious sister Marry (Dolly) Comegys.
