In 1965, Junius served as Best Man in my wedding. As time had past we did keep in touch. May he rest in peace. To his family may God grant you comfort.

Junius did many things in his 87 years. He was a great husband and father, helped may young people find their way through encouragement and education, and knew a lot about politics. When he came to California, he sometimes stayed at our house and enjoyed time with Alvin. One time he wasn't feeling well and Alvin took great care of him. He would go visit with each one of his siblings when in California. He will be missed and always in our hearts. Condolences to the entire family.
With Love,
Edith & Alvin

I will miss you uncle June, I remember when you drove from New Jersey to New York to pick me and my baby Shayla up (then 6 months old) you didn’t hesitate to help us. I am grateful for the fond memories we shared at grandmas house. Those moments will always hold a special place in my heart. With love always, Shana

My favorite memory about you Junius was when You and Jim came home for the first time in the Air Force when I saw you guys I started screaming your names. I was so happy to see you guys you were so tall and handsome, You picked me up and gave me a great big hug. I never wanted you to leave again. My other favorite memory was the love you had for our mother, you would come to California every year or two to see her and all of your siblings. You had a wonderful family that you loved so much, but you would always find time to see us.You were a man with a big heart.Your nephews and nieces loved and respected you so much I am going to miss you big brother. You visiting us was always like a holiday. God Bless You. Rest In Paradise Your Sister Rose

With the passing of Junius, we bid farewell to a beacon of kindness, politeness and caring persona who brightened every encounter. Even though our relationship was shaped solely through social media, his passion was palpable. Engaging in debates about life and politics with him brought us closer despite the physical distance. His profound insight and wisdom will forever echo in memory. His absence on this earthly plane will be keenly felt. He shall rest well as memories of him endure within my heart.

Throughout various times in my life, my Uncle June, would be like a surrogate father to me. When I came to the east coast for the 1st time to attend college, he took me & my mom to the top of the World Trade Center in New York and drove us over the longest bridge I'd ever been on (The Chesapeake Bay Bridge) I was terrified going over that bridge & he knew it! I thought the 9 mile San Mateo bridge in my hometown was long. He would call & email me once in a while to talk about how college was going, where I was traveling to and pick my mind on politics. I loved talking to Uncle June about history & politics. He'd also tell me stories about how he & my dad used to listen to jazz & talk about their military service. He seemed to know when I needed that fatherly chat because that's just when he would connect with me. Rest easy Uncle June, I will miss you & always keep your memory in my heart.

My brother June was a role model for me. I wanted to join the Service just like him and our other brother Jim. When he came home for visits he introduced me to jazz music. He would bring records for me to play on our old time record player. I was so proud of him when he came home in his blue uniform. June insisted I go to the same high school he did, McDonough 35, he wanted me to have the opportunity of a solid education. He traveled, he was educated and very proud to be from Louisiana! He was loving and kind. He looked after all of our family in numerous ways. I love and miss you June.
Always your sister Ethel Burnside
