Obituary of Kenneth Saunders

Kenneth Saunders, 76, of Philadelphia, PA sadly passed away on June 7, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Cancer. Ken was born to Annie Lillian Saunders and the late Paul Saunders, on May 15, 1948. After graduating from Camden High School. Ken attended the University of Dayton, where he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. He later enlisted in the Navy, where Ken faithfully served for 13 years, primarily as an Intelligence Officer. Ken deeply believed in serving others, and that intellect is important but never more so than being kind. He believed it’s never too late to begin again and grow from where you are. Ken also believed that with a little faith and a level head, there was nothing too big to handle. But perhaps most importantly he believed in the goodness of the Lord, Jesus Christ. All of those values informed much of whatever Ken put his hands to. Whether it was starting a business, furthering his education, taking an active role in Men’s Ministry, going on Mission trips, serving in his community or on an Executive board, or even simply taking time to talk or simply listen; Ken always had an encouraging word for all and stressed the importance of putting out more positivity, love, and light. As he knew we got back we put out. Ken is preceded in death by his father, Paul Saunders, and his brother, Mitchell “Mitch” Saunders. He leaves to cherish his memories; mother, Annie Lillian Saunders; his daughter Stephanie (Andre) Miller, Significant Other & Love of his life, Ardy Shaw; his former wife, and mother of his only child, Garvice Creecy-Saunders; 4 grandchildren, Mikaiah, Brendan, Damian, Isaiah; 2 nephews; longtime family friends the 5th Street Crew, Jude Lowe, Butch Lowe, Lester Hopkins, Cornell Worlds, Donald Jones, Stacey Threadgill, Barbara Threadgill, Theresa Lowe, Deborah Halland, the mighty men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Theta Chapter, and a host of family and friends.
