She was reared in a Christian home and attended Deliverance Evangelistic Church under the leadership of Pastor Benjamin Smith, Sr. Debbie, which she was affectionately called, was educated through the Philadelphia Public School system. She was a lover of music and took classes at the Settlement Music School. Here she developed a love for the piano and learned to play classical music. Debbie graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1974. After graduating high school, she began her training and work in general dentistry. In 1978, she met Henry Allen Bennett. After some time, Allen and Debbie were married in Holy Matrimony in May 1980. From this union, they were blessed to have two beautiful daughters, Torrina Monique and Donita Michelle.
