Keith Lavern Washington, 68 died peacefully at Mainland Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 surrounded by his family. Keith was born on August 10, 1955 in Jacksonville, Fla to the late William and Mae Washington. In 1960, Keith’s family relocated to Pleasantville, NJ. In 1962, Keith’s family relocated to Ocean City, NJ, where he attended the local public schools. Keith graduated from Ocean City High School in 1974. Keith was employed as a supervisor with the City of Ocean City Public Works Dept where he retired after 36 years of service. Keith also worked part-time at the Tilton Movie Theater for many years. Keith was a member of the Pride of Ocean City Elks 757 for many years. He enjoyed dancing, socializing and boy did he love the ladies. Justina said her dad’s answering machine would say, “Lavern Washington the Player”. Keith was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Atlantic City under the Bishop of Dr. James Washington. When Keith was able, he loved attending church and loved greeting everyone at the door with white gloves. He took ushering seriously. Keith also was a died hard Redskin fan. He would always call his son in law Tom after each game they lost and say, “the other team cheated and they got lucky”. Tom said he would just laugh. Keith is preceded in death by his brothers Ronald and Anthony (Big Wash) Washington. He leaves to cherish his beloved daughter, Justina Hatala (Tom), his sons, Shaquille (Kelsey), Kenneth Gunter, his stepdaughter, Tracy, his brothers William Jr. (Bubba)(Jackie), Gregory (Dianna), Brian, Marcus, his only sister Terry (Arnold) and a host of nieces, nephews, one goddaughter (Skyanna) and family and friends
