Obituary of Cleophus Johnson

Cleophus "Cleo" Johnson AGE: 77 Cleo Johnson went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 23. A resident of Cherry Hill Senior Living since 2011, and longtime resident of Cherry Hill, NJ where he and wife Yvonne raised their family. Beloved husband of 53 years to wife Yvonne. Loving father of 2 sons - Daryl Johnson and Arthur Johnson. A devoted husband, father, brother and uncle he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, 4 aunts and 1 uncle. Cleo was a proud veteran serving as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy. He received numerous awards and commendations. Upon leaving the Navy after 23 years of service he worked as a Boiler Inspector for Hartford Steam & Boiler and American Insurance Group until his retirement in 2008. He and Yvonne were long time members of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Lawnside, NJ where Cleo served as an Usher until knee problems finally restricted his abilities. He loved to cook, with many southern dishes showing his native S. Carolina roots, as well as a love of jazz & Motown R&B music. He loved God, his family and friends, and the Johnson home was open to many over the years. He devoted time and care to Yvonne as they gracefully faced declining health issues. The support and compassion by so many friends, and family who knew him is the blessing we will always treasure. THE JOHNSON FAMILY- Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 134 White Horse Pike N, Lawnside, NJ 08045 on Monday December 2, 9:00AM to 11:00AM with funeral service at 11:00AM. Internment will take place onsite at Mt. Zion Cemetary immediately after services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Cleo's name to: Mt.
